If you liked Picard season 3, is your issue with nu-Trek really the writing?

Was Picard season 3 key jangling fun? Yeah. Was it nice to see some great actors on screen? Sure! Did I kinda need a conclusion to what happened to the Enterprise-D? Actually, yes.

Was Picard season 3 well written? Absolutely not!

People criticise nu-Trek for its appalling lack of continuity, confused tone, cynicism and the immaturity of the characters. All things present and unchanged in Picard season 3.

If people are so willing to overlook bad writing - is the writing REALLY what’s bothering people? Do people even recognise bad writing?

Is there not the real risk that if the latest nu-Trek was set immediately post Voyager with gallons of cameos and ‘easter eggs’ people would be okay with this dross?
