I just found out about the Fire Red / Leaf Green “hard reset” feature on Switch. AMA :(

This just happened. While attempting to speed through my rival’s dialogue post-battle (Nugget Bridge, Cerulean City), I hit all 4 face buttons on my switch controller. To my surprise, this reset the whole game and wiped the progress I’d gained since my last save (which never happened — I didn’t think that saving would be necessary unless/until I closed the game). This was my team at the time:

Ivysaur (20) Pikachu (17) Magikarp (14) Nidoran (6)

Can’t even begin to guess why this button combination feature / function would ever be a thing.
