why do you seem to have such a weird relationship with cigarettes?

the americans I've met irl or observed online seem oddly wary of cigarettes or (at most) only smoke them when drunk. it seems especially weird to me because you don't seem as wary of vapes, which are pretty much a mystery when it comes to long-term effects, and weed, which makes you psychotic and stupid.

are anti smoking campaigns that successful in america? it doesn't seem like the most dangerous habit out there, especially when there are a lot of other, riskier addictive substances available for you.
