Parking tips for Big Sandy & His Flyrite Boys at La Rumba (Denver 03/04)
so big sandy is coming to la rumba on 03/04 and if you have ever been to this part of denver you know the parking situation is kind of a headache. its right in the middle of the golden triangle area and things get tight especially once the show starts around 7:00 pm.
honestly your best bet is to check out Prked. you can basically rent someones driveway or a private garage spot right next to la rumba and it is way cheaper than the commercial lots. plus you get to skip the nightmare of trying to find a spot on the street and its just a really short walk to the venue.
if you do not use Prked then you should know about the small lot directly behind the club at 9th and acoma but that thing fills up almost immediately after doors open so do not count on it. for street parking you can look along 9th ave or acoma and bannock streets but pay super close attention to the signs. denver meter maids are everywhere and most meters are enforced until 10 pm in this neighborhood. some of those spots have weird 2 hour limits even at night or might be permit only for the residents. there is a bigger public lot at 10th and acoma and another one over on 9th and broadway that usually has space but they can get pricey depending on what else is happening downtown that night.
if you do not mind a few minutes walk the cultural center complex garage on 12th is a solid backup if the surface lots are full. broadway is always a mess with traffic around 7:00 pm so try to come in from the west side using speer boulevard or santa fe to avoid the worst of the broadway and lincoln lights. there are also smaller lots at 990 bannock and 815 bannock that people sometimes forget about. also just a heads up to not leave anything valuable in your car because while the area is busy things happen in city lots. hope this helps and have a blast.
