For floating solar projects, what are the primary O&M challenges compared to ground-mount systems?

Question

I’ve been looking more into floating solar lately and I’m curious how the O&M side really compares to traditional ground-mount systems.

On paper, floating PV sounds great. You save land, potentially get some cooling benefits from the water, and reduce evaporation. But I’m wondering what the day-to-day reality looks like once the project is operational.

What are the biggest maintenance challenges you’re seeing? Is access a major issue since everything requires boats or floating walkways? How much of a concern are corrosion, humidity exposure, and cable management over water? I’d imagine anchoring systems and mooring lines also need regular inspection, especially in areas with changing water levels or strong winds.

Are inverter failures or electrical faults harder to diagnose and fix compared to ground-mount sites? And does biofouling or debris buildup become a recurring issue?
