Gen 1 V1 advice

On Friday, I left the office early and rolled hot through a school zone that ordinarily is after hours for me but not this time. I noted fellow drivers tamping their brakes and then I saw the Popo. I hard braked. He rolled but never lit me up. He followed me and then circled back. Strangely I had been working through my daily gratitudes when this went down.

I want to use a BlendMount to hang a radar detector on my M4. I long now have a Gen 1 V1 and if my memory serves me, I upgraded it once already. Should I get the latest upgrade or buy a Gen 2? I think they have a trade in discount offer.
