What are people doing to prepare?

Mid 40’s working in financial services in major HCOL city. Very worried about the next 1-2 years and how AI will impact my job and employment across the industry.

What are others doing to prepare for the potential of mass layoffs? Side hustles? Investment properties? Buying a business? I just don’t know what will be a good business to be in post AI layoffs if people don’t have money to spend anymore!
