Could I be aromantic?

Questioning

Hi, I’m an 18-year-old bisexual girl. I know I’m attracted to both men and women equally. I’ve had crushes and even been in a few short “relationships,” but they usually last about a month at most. After that, I start to feel bored and begin avoiding the person.

The only time I get really attached, almost obsessively,is when the other person gives me mixed signals. In those situations, I overanalyze everything and end up liking them much more. But even if they eventually like me back, even after a long period of me being fixated on them, I still lose interest and pull away again.

I think I like sex, but I wouldn’t describe myself as a very sexual person. I do enjoy attention from both men and women, and I like the “game” of having a crush and flirting (as long as it doesn’t feel awkward). Most of the time, though, I prefer for it to stay at that stage, more like an experience than something that turns into a full relationship.

This confuses me because, even though I know it may not be related with being aro, I really love romance in fiction when it’s well written, and sometimes I wish I could experience something like that. But even when I imagine myself with the most attractive and interesting person, as soon as it would become a real relationship, I lose interest. I wouldn't enjoy it, and I would end up preferring to stay single.

I’m not sure if this is connected, but I also have BPD, and I wonder if that could be influencing how I experience attraction and relationships.
