Very inaccurate lap counting on Trex pro

I just got a used trex pro, with the main purpose for it being tracking my swims. The distance it measured was way more then i actually swam and it was showing me random numbers, like 971m even tho i swam in a 25m pool. Have you experienced anything like this? If so could you give me any tips on solving it. I’ll appreciate any help!
