Car accident bodily injury

Auto Insurance

So, I was in a moderately bad accident about a week and a half ago. No broken bones, fortunately, but pretty bad whiplash/pain on my right side (knee, hip, shoulder, arm) along with neck, upper and lower back. I believe my foot on the brake at impact caused a lot of injury.A driver cut 3 lanes into the one in front of me while I was driving straight and was deemed at fault.

I had to take 4 days off from the salon (self-employed) and have been working with less people in my day since..

When I went to the doctor, I had X-rays showing degenerative arthritis in my neck and right hip with none in my right shoulder. Being a no-fault state, my auto pays the first $2,500, then it goes to the at-fault driver. Now here's where my problems start.

I have an ortho appointment Tuesday, which will take me over. I'm sure if they do MRIs at all, but it needs to be done.

The biggest issue is that money is super tight, so I was unable to afford healthcare this year, and if I go over, I'm scared that I will have to pay out of pocket.

I was diagnosed with degenerative arthritis in my mid-30s when they did the X-ray. Shocking, considering what effect this injury could have now on my 18-year career, and that it could be post-traumatic.

The car is totaled, and when they deemed it so, they did try to settle, but I feel it's too early. They offered $3k and $750 for lost wages along with $7k set aside for 6 months they will put towards medical. I kinda wanna take it but I know that much won't help me if I don't improve.

What advice can you give? I plan to talk to an attorney, but I'm at a loss... It could get better, then it will seem like a waste, or it could get worse. I've been through pain before, but nothing that has ever stuck around and lasted any length of time like this.
