Best football Gifts for boys (or girls too)
If you’re searching for the best football gifts for boys 8-12 yo, I can tell you from experience - not everything that looks cool online actually gets used.
My son turned 12 recently and football is pretty much his personality at this point. We’ve tried a mix of “fun” gifts and “training” gifts over the past year, and here’s what genuinely stuck.
One of the biggest hits wasn’t even equipment, it was game tickets. Taking him to see a live match was on a completely different level. He still talks about it weeks later. If you want a soccer gift that feels unforgettable, this might be it. We are from england, so we went to see Chelsea vs Arsenal a year ago, we still go to some games from time to time.
A team shirt (official kit) also went down really well. He wears it constantly, not just to training but basically everywhere. It feeds that identity piece kids this age love.
On the training side, we tried a few things. A football training mat (we got the FPRO one) ended up being surprisingly useful. It’s a mat with app-based drills and short challenges. I thought it won’t be used as much, but he actually uses it for quick sessions after school. It works indoors and doesn’t need much space, which is good.
We also added a rebounder net, which has been great for solo practice. Simple but effective.
Something smaller that turned into a big hit: customized shin guards with his name and number. They feel personal, and he’s weirdly proud of them. Can add pictures too.
And then there were reaction lights. I wasn’t sure about these, but they turned into full-on competitions between him and his friends. Not strictly football-specific, but great for agility and quick reactions.
If I’ve learned anything about football gifts for boys, it’s this:
- Identity gifts (shirt, tickets, personalized gear) = emotional win
- Skill-building gifts (mat, rebounder, reaction lights) = long-term use
Any other ideas?
