Can I use the 195 data plan without any voice plan to make WhatsApp work on my smartphone?
Guys, recently I heard that WhatsApp works only when the SIM card registered in the WhatsApp account is inserted in the mobile. I recently switched the Jio SIM that I was using in my smartphone to JioPhone as JioPhone recharge plans are available at a cheaper price.
But due to the new WhatsApp rule, it is a bit difficult to insert my Jio SIM back in the smartphone and recharge at a higher price for me. When I checked the Jio recharge plans, the 195 plan attracted me. I was thinking of inserting my Jio SIM in the smartphone, recharging with the 195 plan and using WhatsApp...
But my doubt is that if while logging in to WhatsApp, it is verifying the SIM card by sending an outgoing SMS instead of the normal OTP method, then the 195 plan is not useful in such a situation, right? Because under the 195 plan, only (15gb) data is coming without any voice calls & SMS benefits.
So, I would like to know how WhatsApp is now detecting the SIM in our mobile. Is it sending an SMS to a number like UPI apps? Or, is it just verifying through an OTP? Have any of you tried this yourself recently? Please let me know.
