1999 Double Wide Mobile Home needs a new kitchen and 3 bathrooms redone

home improvement

Our home has been paid off since 2019. Its a 5 bedroom, three bathroom double wide. We have taken very good care of it so everything needing done is really cosmetic and just needing updating. We plan to live here probably another 10 years at least. We are 56 and 59yrs old. The last of our kids still lives with us because he is saving to purchase his own land and home in the next 2-4 years(he's 21). Nothing has been updated or changed in this home ever. It has a galley style kitchen with a breakfast area at the end on the way to the laundry room that has never been utitlized for such because its such a stupid area. If you put a table there, you are having squeeze by to get to the laundry/mud room, so I put two pantry cabinets there for extra pantry space. The cabinets are made from mdf I think with the fake wood laminate over it. They are not in "horrible" shape, but definitely need either painting or replacing. Can this laminate be painted with it peeling off easily from use? Formica countertops that I want to replace with butcher block. I bought a white enamel cast iron sink from home depot a few years ago still in the box I fell in love with that I would love to use. Its a drop in sink. If we used the original MDF cabinets, but install butcher block for counter tops, would the countertops be strong enough to hold the sink up? Or would we still need to put some type of support under the sink? If thats the case, then I think I'll sell the sink and get something lighter.
