Hot Take: Jonathan Toews

I know he has a no movement clause, but if we wanted to gamble and not give too much away he could be it. He hasn't had the best season and he would have to agree to come over. He has a 2 million dollar cap hit and we probably wouldn't have to give too much away. He will get a better opportunity fighting for 1c then he did in Winnipeg, and who knows, maybe he'll play well with Kaprizov and Zuccarello. If he plays well then we can extend him, lets say 2 years at 2 million. He could allow Yurov and Stramel to develop a bit, and he is 4th in the league in faceoff win percentage. He wouldn't be long term, but he could be a cheap, faceoff winning guy who could give our young guys some time. Theres better options, but if we don't want to give Wally or Stramel away, he could be our guy.
