Am I Making a Bad Decision?
Long post ahead, but I really need a reality check.
I am currently in my late 20’s and want to go to school and get a degree. I initially went in my early 20’s but dropped out to get a full time job so I could support my now ex-husband when he decided he wanted to go, and didn’t really contribute financially.
I am now divorced and have been a bit sullen about my previous sacrifice, and really wish I would’ve made it work and got my degree done. So I am looking to go to civil engineering technology school (yes I’m aware of the limitations of tech vs engineer, and I am okay with that)
Will this be doable while working full time? My boss is supportive, but mentioned most people can’t handle this and drop out. How badly am I going to struggle to balance it all? I already work in the civil engineering field due to a tech degree I hold from vocational school in high school.
I don’t really have a lot going on, no real hobbies or social life, I mainly stay home and watch tv or play games. I also have a bf who is very supportive and wants me to go. He is willing/wants to help me study (he holds an engineering degree). He also mentioned he is willing to help carry some extra financial weight if I decide to go full time in school to get it done. I don‘t want to ask that of him though, and would rather go part time and work full time so I can equally contribute.
Please give me thoughts, I am open to any opinions. I am not sure if I am making the right choice, or dooming myself to more stress.
TLDR: dropped out of college to support ex-husband financally, major regret, want to go back while working full time. Am I too ambitious?
