Authors and their threats of not updating on wattpad.

I am not speaking particularly about this one author. Some famous authors are more known for such stunts. They got criticism for it which they deserved.
Whenever authors don't get their desired engagement, they slightly threaten readers that they will stop uploading the book on wattpad.
Yes readers should vote and comment to appreciate authors as an appreciation for their free books.
BUT
Can they stop acting like they are uploading their books on wattpad for the sake of just readers not for their personal gain?
All these famous authors earn money through paid apps like stck. Only Wattpad engagement can make their books more visible and lure readers to buy their paid books. So they are not doing some social service here. It's a give and take policy.
It's embarassing to read readers begging comments asking author to keep uploading books as if authors are not gaining anything through wattpad.
Till now I didn't see a single author who actually stopped uploading their books on wattpad like they threatened. All they do is just threatening slightly then readers will beg them to not to do it and cycle repeats.
