Planning to meet long-distance flirtation for the first time. Finally a kink click! Best advice?
I'm late 30sF, he's mid 40sM. We matched on an app while he was briefly visiting my city and he'd already returned to his. We've been texting, sending voice notes for months and he's planning to fly to see me in some weeks. The vibe is very warm, sincere, affectionate, communicative, respectful and emotionally attuned. Far more talking about everyday life than sexting or kink fantasy.
Of all my previous relationships, I've never had a satisfyingly kinky connection. Folks who claimed to be kinky but then would always turn out to be half-interested and dabbling. Maybe some very light spanking or light orgasm control. Whereas I've been aware I've been kink-inclined for decades, following kink content, community conversations, read resources, am knowledgeable in theory but less so in practice. I always prioritized the emotional relationships and had satisfying sex, but that other itch was not scratched.
New guy is more experienced in bondage and domination, has some regular play partners, and I've found him trauma informed, reassuring, observant, conscientious, and responsive. I'm trying to stay grounded and judicious but frankly I've got this sense that he's someone whose style I can really lean into and let go with in terms of sexual power exchange, and I'm over the moon. Our complementary interests seem to be less pain and more about orgasm control, pleasure domming (which I sense is a controversial term?), edging, punishment/accomplishment, and perhaps eventually hotwifing. This is the first time I have ever had the sense that someone I was interested in and was interested in me had LESS sexual shame and had more sexual self-knowledge than I do, when I've always been, for lack of a better term, the weirder one with always more private kinks to confess to.
Obviously we'll need to see in practice, get physically and not just emotionally comfortable with each other, and learn the real friction, capacities, etc., of each other's bodies—and I don't doubt we'll have a slower and more cautious ramp up when we actually meet. I know that discussions of Yes/Maybe/Nos need to be more clarified and emotional/physical safety discussions. He'll stay at a hotel to reduce pressure on us both (and increase safety). But it's a HUGE relief to even know that this is someone I MIGHT be able to be my deepest sexual self with. Alongside the emotional connection and compatibility, which seems to be there.
And words of wisdom for the more experienced? Potential pitfalls? Green flags? Red flags? I have a real concern I might get seriously attached to this person and it's not clear how or if this could be more than an occasional thing, given the logistics. I'm feeling rather like a novice, but such a happy one!
