First Marathon Ibiza
I’m contemplating running my first marathon in 8 weeks, off the back of a half marathon two weeks ago where I finished in 2:05 (official chip time).
I was really happy with it although it definitely wasn’t a walk in the park. It felt great until about 19km… then my hips started screaming! other than that breathing ok, knees fine .
I’d done a few 20km long runs beforehand and have been running consistently for about 6 months now. My biggest training weeks were around 50km before Christmas. (I've only had about 2 weeks where I dipped below 25km per week and this was due to travel / sickness)
I’m rebuilding again now ..last week I clocked 40km total, including a 20km long run, two 5km running club sessions, a tempo workout, and a shakeout run.
The rough plan would be to progress the long runs 24–26–28–30–32km, then taper.
I'm going to maintain 45km+ each week until taper.
The marathon I’m considering is Ibiza, which I can see has a bit of elevation.
Any tips or advice?
