PSLF help
Hi all,
I have to admit I am out of my element here. I am not close to 120 payments, most of my loans are at 60 payments.
I have been teaching for 15 years. A couple of years ago the government decided I didn’t satisfy my TEACH grant and converted it back to loans. I did the paperwork but there were discrepancies on what schools qualified I believe? I have been in 3 states (MI, IA, OH) and both charter and public schools.
I am terrified of hurting my credit. I also am miserable at the thought of continuing teaching and trying to pivot out of education.
My total is about 56k.
Are there experts in this group that can help me navigate this? I don’t know what to do. Currently in forbearance until at least 2027 according to the student loans website.
In a perfect world I could get my teach grants back to grants, prove I fulfilled them and get them off of there, then look into buyback or whatever you all talk about.
Thank you in advance and congratulations to those of you that could navigate the system. I admit I need help.
