Trying to bring some structure to flatmate hunting in Gurgaon — need your thoughts
Over the past few months (and personally while shifting), I realized how chaotic flatmate hunting in Gurgaon still is.
Random Groups and DMs. Last-minute dropouts. Too many different preferences. Brokers flooding comments.
Even though I had additional whatsapp group access and communities since I'm from one of the tier 1 institutes, we kept facing the same issues.
So I and a friend started building a small structured flatmate matching network for working professionals in Gurgaon as a side project, we are currently working in a tech firm.
It’s still early (first batch), but a few people from reddit as well close circles have already reached out and I’ve been able to connect profiles where preferences genuinely aligned.
The idea is simple: • Basic LinkedIn verification (only to confirm working professionals and avoid brokers or random spammers— not shared publicly). I verify ID before connecting people because I feel accountable for who I’m introducing you to. • Compatibility filters (budget, lifestyle, etc.) • Structured introduction instead of random number exchange. • Direct individuals only — no brokers • No hidden brokerage The goal is just to reduce chaos and increase safety.
If you (or someone you know) are: – Looking for a flatmate – Looking to move into an existing setup – Have a room in a preoccupied flat
Feel free to DM — happy to share details.
Also genuinely curious — what’s been your biggest frustration while finding a flatmate?
