I can’t tell if this is AIWS or not, but it’s terrifying
I just got off of my antidepressant for severe GAD, panic disorder, DPDR, and more. I overcame all of it because of intense psychotherapy, CBT, ERP, and exposure therapy.
Anyways, I got the flu a few days ago and I was you know, feeling shitty, so I went to bed. I woke up later to my girlfriend getting home and then I felt this very familiar sensation, something that reminded me of a one off experience when I was a child. I remember my fingers feeling unnaturally small. Almost like the had shrunk to the size of toothpicks. I remember this disordered thinking about walking and how my mother seemed so far away. I started screaming and I ran to the bathroom. It eventually ended but it was such an existentially painful experience that I later went to develop all these mental health conditions.
Going back to my girlfriend getting home, that same unnatural terror overtook my body. I ran to her grabbing her and crying, like a child. I begged her to make it stop and she asked if she needed to call an ambulance. I told her no, because I thought it was just intense DPDR. I just let it go, and it eventually went away but it still scared the crap out of me.
My medication withdrawals have made my flu way worse but yesterday morning I woke up with the same feeling. I think it may just be paresthesia but I’m not sure. I really hope this doesn’t become a full neurological disorder. I need reassurance, I’m very scared.
