@creditstacking says your credit profile isn't weak — just "built on low-tier accounts" — agree or disagree?

Came across a post from u/creditstacking that made me think: "Your credit profile isn't weak. It's just built on low-tier accounts. Start stacking with real banks and watch your limits jump."

Here's where I agree: The type of credit accounts you have absolutely matters. Not all credit is created equal — a secured card from a credit union and a premium travel card from Chase signal differently to lenders. Building toward tier-1 accounts (big bank cards, business lines of credit) does open doors that subprime accounts simply can't.

But here's where I push back a bit: The framing feels a little oversimplified. Someone who's "stuck" on low-tier accounts often doesn't need better banks — they need a better strategy. The accounts they have might actually be the right ones for where they are in their journey. The real unlock is usually timing and sequence, not just upgrading to "fancier" cards.

The follow-the-bank model can work, but only if your foundation is actually ready for it. You can throw money at premium cards and still get denied if your utilization timing, inquiry management, and business credit foundation aren't dialed in.

Where do you land on this? Are you actively working toward tier-1 accounts, or are you focused on optimizing what you have first?
