Advice needed
We live in the UK and are entitled to three rounds of NHS IVF funding. I had my egg collection at 37 (I’m now 38). Our first frozen embryo transfer was a 5AA embryo. Unfortunately, although the embryo was chromosomally normal, the pregnancy ended at 5 months due to a fatal teratoma which caused hydrops and loss.
We currently have four frozen embryos remaining and two funded transfers left. None of the remaining embryos have been PGT tested. We have one 5AB embryo and the others are graded BB and BC - no AA embryos left.
We’re trying to decide whether we should:
• Pay privately for PGT-A testing on the remaining embryos,
or
• Proceed with the two remaining transfers and hope for the best.
We have absolutely no way of funding another egg collection privately - we’ve been quoted figures of around £20,000 due to my age and icsi being needed so if these embryos are not viable, that would realistically be the end of the road for us.
Given my age (38) and the embryo grades we have left, we’re unsure what the most sensible next step would be.
Any advice or experiences would be hugely appreciated.
