Status quo bias and the experience machine

When provided with the better option in the opinion of a utilitarian most people say they won’t go in the machine,

If this is just the fear of the better option being regrettable and Becausr of that fear we stick to reality

How do we know that hedonism is correct in saying that pleasure is the most valuable aspect to life ?

What is the counter argument to this ?
