Upgrading from A7II for birds & sports – A7III or A7IV?
I've been shooting with a Sony A7II and have been genuinely happy with it. I came from Olympus E1 and E3, so after those autofocus systems, the A7II never felt like a limitation to me.
I've recently picked up a 200-600 and have been doing a lot of bird photography, honestly still amazed at what I can get out of the combo. However, I'm starting to think about an upgrade, particularly as I may be moving into some sports photography where I imagine the demands will be higher.
My options are:
- **Sony A7III** – €1,600
- **Sony A7IV** – €2,200 (a stretch but possible)
I'll be keeping the A7II regardless, as it's served me brilliantly.
My main question is: **coming from the A7II, would I actually notice and appreciate the autofocus improvement on the A7III?** Or is the jump to the A7IV worth the extra €600 for bird and sports work with the 200-600?
