Doctor said I was misdiagnosed, not sure if second opinion is needed.

Labs/Advice

⚠️: Please keep in mind that I have OCD, and new diagnoses is one of my triggers, so I may need a reality check. Be gentle if that’s the case 😭

I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism a few weeks ago and couldn’t get an appointment until today. I went in to ask learn more about the diagnosis and hear about next steps - doctor said he doesn’t know who diagnosed me, and that my labs look normal.

I agree that my T4 and T3 are in normal range, but while learning more about hypothyroidism, I took a look at my TSH levels and noticed that it had decreased significantly since my last labs (July 2025: 1.23 ; February 2026: 0.7). I pointed this out to the doctor, and he said TSH levels change often and that it was nothing to worry about because it’s still within normal range.

However, I have noticed new symptoms before the diagnosis and tried to explain that but was dismissed. I have recurring headaches, irregular periods even though my reproductive hormones are normal, joint pain, fatigue, and recently, my hair started falling out. I also learned recently that my family has a history of hyperthyroidism and some family members even had to have their thyroids removed.

I don’t know if I should seek a second opinion or just accept that I was misdiagnosed? Thyroid issues explain a lot of the health issues I’m having, but I’m overweight so I got lectured for not wanting to take ozempic…
