Customer service can be a vocation too

I've often found that the majority of people consider customer service the “lowest rung” in the job market. I disagree with this idea, providing quality customer service does more for a society than simply improve the reputation of a company or help sell products. I truly believe that even if our interactions with customers are brief, they can still have a positive impact in their lives.

In the modern world we are often bombarded with information that often tests our faith in humanity at large.

The strangers we encounter often act as faceless representatives of the masses. If a person is reminded that even strangers can be thoughtful and kind then it can give them hope.

I've found that many in my generation are steadily sliding into misanthropy, we are often told that we should only care about ourselves as that is the only thing we can truly rely on. I want to challenge this notion. I am but 1 person, there is only so much I can do, but if my actions result in a person having a marginally better day, then I did my job well. Every small positive interaction counts, even if my customers don't remember me, I truly believe that a small fragment of optimism will still remain after interacting with them.
