Off campus housing

Considering off campus housing with friends for my upcoming second year. Assuming we find a place for four, I’m curious if sub-leasing is viable for the following summer months. Where I grew up, landlords for students usually have an August-to-August lease. But if I go home for four months during the summer, what options have others seen? Is there a sublet market during the summer?
