Fever in 2nd trimester
Hello all,
So thankful for this community in getting through. I have been feeling so happy for the first time in a very long time, finally made it through the early anatomy scan last week and no signs of anything concerning (TFMR was for spina bifida). I’m 14 weeks today and can feel her little flutters every now and then, and it’s so lovely.
I started to not feel well over the last couple of days (like a head cold) and woke up with a fever this morning. It was around 101, down to 99-100 with Tylenol. Laying on ice packs and drinking lots of cold water. I think the primary concerns for fave in pregnancy are NTD earlier on and preterm labor, logically I don’t think I’m at risk for those. And then later neurodevelopmental concerns that we won’t know about for years. But I’m having a hard time calming myself and saying it’ll be fine, lots of people get sick during pregnancy and their babies are okay. But then I got an Instagram video about a woman whose child is deaf and has developmental disabilities because of a virus she got in pregnancy. Not what I need right now.
Anyone have words of wisdom, comfort, or advice? I’m not sure how long this will last, sounds like people in town have had a weird 3 day fever with body aches but not much of a head cold, which matches me for now. I got the flu shot early in pregnancy, last covid shot was maybe 2023 because I get so sick from it. Really just want my baby to be healthy.
