I completed RE Requiem. About the game's second half...

I was anticipating the release of Resident Evil Requiem a lot. When I started the game it really did not disappoint. The entire care center section, both with Grace and Leon are very fun and very well done. It absolutely deserves a 9/10.

However, the 2nd half of the game is really... not good... I'm going to be very harsh on RE9 now, but I really feel an immense amount of disappointment about Requiem's second half. I feel the game really started to fall apart once you reach Raccoon City.

I like Leon just as much as the next person. He is my favorite RE character, but I have to wonder why he was included in Requiem other than fan service. I feel that Capcom had no idea what to do with Leon in this title. You can kind of see it in his boss fights. They're all pretty random. Some giant spider, another Mr X (more fan service, but enjoyable) and then some giant plant that comes out of nowhere. The actions sequences are also a little bit too over the top (the bike section).

The absolute breaking point for me was when I had to get the 3 parts for the detonator. This entire gameplay section was so dragged out that it sucked all the joy out of the game for me. The environment was boring and bland. It felt like I was playing a Playstation 3 game with all the brownish tints. The enemies were too bulletspongie for my liking as well. Once you get the parts for the detonator, Leon says that took way longer than expected, which to me sounded like Capcom said "Yeah we know it was a long and boring gameplay section, but we have to fill the game".

The final lab section was boring as well. At this point in the game I was just begging it to be over already. Compare that with RE Village, which I did not want to end at any point. The lab section was so bland and generic that it just really hurt. The final boss was okay and the game wraps up nicely too.

It just feels like Requiem's second half has so much wasted potential. It feels like useless filler slog. I was planning on replaying RE Requiem, but not I'm not so sure about it now that I know how mediocre the second half is. Requiem's first half is easily a 9/10, but the 2nd half is 5-6/10 for me. Very disappointing...
