Position Update: $CRCL
I continue to get comments about my $CRCL position and what I'm doing with it, so I thought I'd do yet another update on the position itself and my current mindset/strategy.
My current position in $CRCL consists of two separate positions established on 2/4/26:
- Long shares at a cost of $55.89 +69.21%
- 2028 $50 LEAPS at a cost of $26.50 +119%
The thesis behind the purchase was that shares were down roughly 83% from the 52WH, aided by the big drop in Bitcoin. Beyond price movement, my research suggested that the drop was disconnected from, what seemed to be, increasing adoption/success of their model.
This was one of those cases where valuation mattered in the triple digits, but declines made for a possible attractive long-term opportunity when considering growth. If only looking at MIT (Moment in Time) metrics, $CRCL would seem to be an unintriguing, expensive, growth play. Under the hood, however, showed a growing adoption model with attached growth rates to suggest potential upside for the patient.
First thing I had to understand is that I'm not knowledgeable with their space or the nuance of what they do. It was easy to find that they are different than that typical crypto play, with real world adoption backed by the USD. I have long suggested that the real value of crypto is far more related to the blockchain technology into new payment/stored value paradigms.

This seems to be playing out with $CRCL and, by all appearances, the market is realizing that the price of the stock had gotten too low given the adoption rate and maturation of its stablecoin offering.
At this juncture, it appears to be a further developing upside trend.
My Plan
When I took the position, I did so with both shares and calls to provide maximum position leverage and flexibility, Meaning, I could play what I believe to be a bottom in the stock all the while maintaining two positions that could allow me enough flexibility to trade around the shares into upside price moves. That's simply a fancy way of saying I could trade into the position with a long-term focus but have enough flexibility to unload one or the other of the two positions to capitalize on an upside move, without liquidating the entire position.
Obviously, since my LEAPS are out to 2028, my focus remains on the long term. The shares provide a very nice long term opportunity if I can see my way through holding them while their forecast plays out. The LEAPS could provide a way to roll out of the big price spike to lock in profits.
At this juncture, I'm doing my best to remain in both positions as I have seen no reason to exit based on news. The price increase has been material and I could trim. At the same time, I remain intrigued as to the upside potential and am finding myself more excited about holding the shares for, what could be, much larger gains.
My profile is one that when profits start to run, I look to "keep greed in check" by trimming. As such, I could take the position down by 20% into this run but have no plans to do so at this time. I continue to watch and wait, primarily the news and adoption as a sign of what may be in the future.
Current status: Holding with no plans to sell/trim either position
