Choosing a Unit (Hospital Volunteering)

❔ Question

I'm going to start volunteering soon. I think I'll be doing around 7-8 hours a week, for 3-ish months. I applied to SHPEP, so if I get in, I'll take a break.

The last step I need to do before volunteering at the hospital is choose the top three departments I would like to work in.

I have a lean towards psychiatry, but that's not an option as of now. I also think I might be able to shadow doctors through the hospital, so that would be good.

I have a quite a few choices, but am leaning towards 1st observation, 2nd NICU, 3rd orthopedics.

I wanted to get the feedback of other people who've done volunteering at a hospital before. I'm unsure how much clinical exposure I'll get, but I'm hoping any of these will give a good amount of that.
