How to get intimacy back into marriage?
My wife and I have been married for 4 years, and in that entire time we haven’t had sex. Before marriage, we were very active and had a great physical connection, but things changed drastically once we tied the knot and got dogs.
Whenever I try to initiate intimacy, she either deflects to another topic or outright declines. I’ve tried to be patient and understanding, but I’m struggling with the lack of physical closeness. It’s not just about sex—it’s about feeling wanted, connected, and bonded in that way again.
I love her deeply and don’t want to pressure her, but I also don’t want to keep ignoring this part of our relationship. Has anyone here gone through something similar? How did you rebuild intimacy when it felt like it had disappeared?
Any advice—whether it’s communication strategies, therapy, or even small steps to reconnect—would mean a lot.
Tl;dr: Married 4 years, no sex since wedding. Wife deflects or declines when I initiate. Want advice on rebuilding intimacy.
