Migraines and HRT or Birth Control
Hello everyone. I’m new here and hoping to connect with peri migraine sufferers. I’m 41. I’ve gotten migraines since I was 9, less so in my 20s, and now they’ve ramped up around my period and are much much more stubborn. They can knock me down from 3-10 days at a time. It’s disabling.
I’ve recently had labs done that show significantly low estrogen and high FSH - like post menopausal levels. So I talked with my doctor about HRT. She really pushed birth control as my only option. It was weird, there was a point where it actually felt like she was talking to me like a child. I just wanted to ask questions about estrogen patch.
I’ve had horrible experiences with birth control and really don’t want to take it, but I also don’t want to live like this anymore either. she said she’s open to whatever I choose.
She insisted that the drop was the trigger and I feel like maybe the crash down to zero is the trigger, ya know? I don’t have anyone my age in my life going through this so it would be nice to hear from someone who is to feel a little less alone in it.
If you have migraines, has HRT helped at all?
Thanks for listening to my woes! 🤍
