Complete manga novels

I want to get into manga but all the ones I know from popular anime shows have so many volumes that I feel like buying the first volume and finishing it will just be a drop in the ocean and I will be commited to sticking with it.

Are there any complete manga novels similar to Watchmen or V for Vendetta or Maus that are just a short complete set of volumes with a full story? It doesn't have to be THAT short just but just some single set I can buy that won't take multiple shelves in my cabinet.
