What is your standard protocol when a bot crashes? What exact data do you always capture in your error logs?
We all know bots fail. UI changes, APIs time out, and legacy systems crash. But the difference between a 5-minute fix and a 5-hour debugging nightmare usually comes down to how good your exception-handling framework is.
I've been refining my standard "Catch" block for years. Whenever a bot hits a fatal system exception, my template automatically captures:
A timestamped screenshot of the exact moment of failure.
The Transaction ID / Reference Number (so I can trace the specific data item back to the database).
The active Window Title or URL the bot was looking at.
The raw exception message & source activity.
This basic payload has saved me hundreds of hours of debugging blind.
I’m curious about how the rest of you handle this. What does your error-logging framework look like? Is there a specific piece of data or custom log message you always capture that saves your sanity when things go wrong?
