How does BPD affect your work life?

❓Question Post

I have a mean little voice in my head that I assumed is shared by literally every other customer service worker. When I share these thoughts that I think are relatable and even funny in context, my loved ones are quick to look at me or react like I’m being needlessly cruel and harsh to random strangers that don’t deserve it.

I have a great remote job that I genuinely love and still manage to have these nasty immediate thoughts towards people who request anything from me that takes more than a minute to do. In all actuality these requests can be super easy yet I’ll immediately roll my eyes and think “easier to ask me to do extra work for you than for you to google something yourself?” And for some reason, having that thought JUST now and recognizing that’s the particularly venomous inner voice I typically use on myself when I’m feeling anxious or low about anything snapped me out of my instant reaction and made me feel guilty. I realize now that I do this a LOT, like scanning for issues to have with people I know nothing about.

Can anyone relate? On the flip side, does anyone have insight into utilizing their BPD behaviors as a sort of superpower at work? Note: I had a boss with OCD who claimed it was her superpower when really she was just terrorizing us so I don’t mean like that 🤣 just curious if there’s a potential upside to the emotional intensity and analysis our brains like to use.
