What do i do?
I have dual texture hair. I think it mainly started when i was 6(?) and after i had started my medication. Not sure which one would have done it at the time, it was Vivance, then Adderall, back to Vivance, then onto some sleeping pill, concerta, risperdone, and one last pill that started with a ‘z’. It started as this little coil at the back of my head, at the very bottom layer, my hair is type 1A-1B. My hair would get wavy whenever it got wet, then back to straight. Now im 26(f) and my hair is all over the place. Ive used herbal essence, head and shoulders, not your mothers, dessert essentials, im now using bar shampoo and conditioner, Viori. It works well but im still not getting the slip i need from my hair. Im using the Aussie detangler and it helps but not for long. These curls/waves are making it super difficult to keep up with. Its heavy, like 5 pounds wet kind of heavy… makes your neck FREAK OUT after a hair cut heavy. Straightening is not an option, i cant deal with the headache of the burnt hair smell. I would like some suggestions on how to deal with this though. Ive asked my stylist about it and she acted like she didnt know about it. Im not all straight hair either, so i literally just threw all of my brushes away and grabbed a hair pick comb from the textured hair section, works the best thus far🙄 and a silk bonnet to reduce overnight friction.
I feel like im going crazy. I keep looking for things that might help me in my situation, but i cant ask most of my textured girlies, they just look at me like im crazy, it cant be heavy or too thick because my hair ranges from super fine to a moderate corse. Oh, and im a red head. Its only curly/wavy in the back. Until its getting washed then it all twists. Its air dried. I cant comb it when its wet, it will snap like a rubber band. Thats pretty much the whole routine.
