Reflect sunlight into room
Hi everyone :)
I have a bit of a lighting challenge. I live in a fairly dark room, so I’ve already installed several mirrors inside to catch the sunlight and brighten up the space. When the sun hits them directly, the effect is amazing and the whole room glows.
The problem is that this only lasts for a very short time each day. Once the sun moves "directly over the building," the light only reaches the windowsill, and the rest of the room goes back to being dark.
I’m now considering mounting external mirrors around the outside of the window frame to redirect that overhead sunlight back into the room.
Before I start drilling holes or buying equipment, I wanted to ask:
- Does anyone have experience with this kind of "solar redirection"?
- Are there specific types of mirrors (or even reflective foils) that work best for outdoors?
- Are there any risks I should be worried about (e.g., concentrated heat/fire hazard or blinding the neighbors)?
