Nipple Fissure isn’t healing
I have the cutest and sweetest 5wk old baby that bites SO AGGRESSIVELY. I have had nipple fissures since week one despite working with lactation on a latch bc he refuses to keep his lower jaw open. I do have a quick let down but I recline and also do gymnastics to help, hand expression doesn’t work very well for me. I have switched to koala/concorde or side lying position and he now has created crush injuries a long with fissures. I have had two lactation consultants double check my technique. I am using activon medical grade honey (medihoney is on recall) but it still isn’t helping. I am tempted to do a pumping break or switch completely to pumping. My husband just wants me to switch to formula but I feel he needs the extra protection with flu season. I need ideas, what have y’all done? Any ideas to help healing and pain but keep going with breast feeding/milk? If you did switch to pumping, how did you go about it? It seems like it will take all day to pump and bottle feeding with washing and the extra time to pump.
