is it valid to call myself straight despite doing things with a guy in the past?
I’m currently in a straight relationship that i’m content with. the issue is i have had a complicated relationship with my orientation. i experimented some years ago as a teenager and kinda brushed it off as i didn’t see it as anything and decided it wasn’t for me.
for some reason people think if you were curious once that you’re automatically bisexual, especially if you’re a guy. it’s also interesting how if a girl said she had a lesbian experience as a teenager and she identifies as straight no one would argue with her. but if a guy says he was even curious he’s stamped as bi or “secretly gay”. it’s one of the many reasons i never told anyone irl that i had a bicurious phase. not even my parents or girlfriend knows about it and i would prefer to keep it that way.
i don’t know how to feel about my orientation and i’m beginning to doubt myself. like i know i don’t want to date a guy, that should be enough to confirm my heterosexuality. but even acknowledging that an objectively attractive male is attractive is gay apparently. and for some reason when i brought this up on another virtual space some people said i have “internalised homophobia“. i don’t think me acknowledging guys aren’t for me despite experimenting with one means i’m in the closet. the whole thing is just weird to me.
