What does this word mean?

So I take GCSE German, and in one lesson, one of my friends accidentally wrote „Jungendliche“ instead of „Jugendliche“.

My teacher (not a native speaker) acted very awkwardly towards him and refused to say what his mistake was, then today said to be careful when writing „Jugendliche“.

So what does „Jungendliche“ mean? Is it offensive?
