Dear Rich People - Please buy Adam's Food Fair :)
Every day I walk by, I just see so much history and potential sitting staring at me. It’s easily one of the best locations in my opinion (Haultain corners), and the thought of it being torn down for some generic, soul-less condo box makes me barf.
I don’t have the millions it would take to buy it, but I have a ton of ideas for what could keep these corners thriving. We already have such a killer ecosystem here: Koffi, The Local General Store, and we’ve got great hair, barbering, and acupuncture/healing spaces. The last thing we need is something that competes with our neighbours we love so much.
If you are rich and able please feel free to steal some of my ideas:
A "day to night" deli & social space: A proper deli during the day that transforms into a cozy wine and mocktail bar at night.
Community-Led Sips: Imagine a rotating drink menu where we, the neighbors, actually vote on which local brews or craft mocktails stay on tap! And then tasting/pop-up/social nights!
Celebration Spot: A dedicated space for those small birthday parties, work events, workshops...
Doggy Daycare/Grooming: With the amount of pups walking to the park nearby, having a spot for grooming or daycare would be such a game changer for all the local pet parents.
Vintage home/clothing shop, pet store, office spaces ...
This spot has sooooo much potential. It just needs someone with a big heart (bank account) to step in and invest in the community that’s already here waiting for them. Honestly, if you’re that person: buy the building, keep the history alive, and hire me as your first employee. I can even help with cleaning it out, I think it is a court ordered sale at the moment.
Anyway, vent sesh over. Enjoy the sunshine today Victoria!!
Also I'd love to hear more ideas! There is also the old 'Tom's' vacant blue building across the street along with the run down dilapidated house that Nicholas Randall in Oak Bay uses as storage I think.
