Looking for reassurance I guess.
Hello. In 2019 I was diagnosed with a mental illness that is part of reporting on SF86. I was not aware at the time that I needed to self report this.
My position does not require any security clearance, but I must be eligible as a condition of employment. When I filled out my SF86 in the summer (I guess something I have to do every five years according to my Security Office) I reported this mental illness.
It obviously raised flags because I was diagnosed in 2019 and did not self report. I have filled out an MFR explaining my negligence in reporting, and what actions I will take moving forward .
I also filled out a document stating the circumstance of how/why I was diagnosed? I sent my medical records showing I have been in therapy this whole time, I signed a waiver for them to speak to my therapist - but now they want an independent psychological evaluation.
I am not sure what to expect moving forward. I am scared for this evaluation because I do not know this person compared to my therapist I have been working with. I have never been arrested, I have never been hospitalized, I have never been in any trouble financially, personally, or professionally because of my mental illness. I do not think I even meet the criteria anymore based on symptoms, but since it’s a personality disorder it’s for life.
I guess I am looking for reassurance or what I can expect with this appointment. Will it be all day? Is there more I can do to state my case as a trustworthy and reliable person? I am afraid to lose my job over this, when I was honest as they requested. Since this SF86, I was given guidance of what needs to be self-reported and as life changes have occurred, I have been self-reporting.
I guess I am just scared and nervous to lose my job.
