M5 Pro 13” Battery

I am coming from a 2017-18 IpadPro 11” and just upgraded to a M5 Pro 13” cellular that I set up over the weekend. Yesterday, with it fully charged @ 100%, I removed it from the charger and used it to do a couple of hours of homework (apps used = ChatGPT, Clipboard++ and Runestone which is a text editor) When I was done I closed it in the Apple Magic Keyboard and have an Apple Pencil Pro attached to it. This morning I threw it in my backpack, arrived at the office and opened it up to use it and the battery was depleted, indicated by there was nothing on the screen for a minute so I put it on the charger and after a minute got the battery warning that’s red indicating it was charging. When I was done using it last night I was at 79%. This wasn’t typical of my older iPad Pro, as it would keep a charge for days when not being used. Is this typical of the M5 Pros?
