Cat food for allergies
My cat obviously has food allergies. She overgrooms, makes the little outside parts of her ear bleed, cat acne no matter if we clean our stainless steel bowls every day. I’ve taken her to the vet. She is absolutely intolerant to dry food, it doesn’t even digest properly. From the xray, it just showed it sitting in her stomach. My partner works, I got laid off from a my job a couple months back and unfortunately have not been able to find a new one. Point is, I’m in debt already. With that being said, I really can’t afford more vet trips or $5/can wet food. I guess if I really have to, I’m willing to put myself in more debt. The last thing I want is for my girl to suffer. I am wondering if there are cheaper alternatives to a novel protein wet food diet. I read that allergy tests for cats are known to give false positives and most vets don’t even do them anymore. Like I said, I don’t have the money to be tip toeing around this, I just want to start with the elimination diet. If anyone has experience cooking for their cats, I would be interested in hearing what you feed them so I can look into that pricing too. And to clarify, she is not an extreme case. Right now, her ears don’t even have any open wounds or scabbing. It’s on and off but the over grooming is a constant. I really just love her and want her to be as comfortable as possible. Please do not rag on me for having a cat and not being able to afford $300 a month for food. TIA.
TL;DR: Any advice for affordable wet food for a cat with allergies or food I can cook for her.
