I bought a Minecraft alt, but it has someone's private photos and work emails on it. Need help
Hi everyone, I need some serious advice regarding a security concern.
About a week ago, I purchased a Minecraft alt account from a third-party seller. When I logged into the Microsoft account, I was shocked to find that it contains a large amount of personal data from about a month ago. This includes:
* Private family photos
* Work-related correspondence/emails
* Billing information and invoices
The game itself works, but I feel extremely uncomfortable. It’s clear to me now that this account was likely stolen from an actual person before being resold to me.
I have a few questions:
-
Am I putting my own PC or personal information at risk just by staying logged into this account?
-
Should I attempt to contact the original owner through the info I found, or is that dangerous?
-
What is the safest way to handle this? Should I just log out and never use it again?
I deeply regret buying from a third-party site and I've definitely learned my lesson. I just want to make sure I’m not compromised. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
