My opinion on gray banding

Discussion

I have seen many posts about the gray banding, also known as vertical banding, or whatever you prefer to call it (especially regarding the tandem WOLED). At first, I was scared to buy myself the ASUS XG27AQWMG because of these issues. At the end, I decided to buy the monitor and see for myself how it performed. When it arrived, I went straight to testing the panel with different kinds of test patterns. This obviously revealed to me the flaws, and I felt a little bit disappointed, even if I kind of knew what I was getting into. I thought for a while, should I return it or not? In the end, I decided to stick with it for some time and see if it really would have an impact on my experience. Now that I have played with it for a few weeks, I can confidently say that I love this monitor and the quality it delivers. I can feel the quality jump in colors and blacks compared to my previous IPS panel. You can see the banding while using it for static content, but I can't notice anything unusual, even in the darker games like Resident Evil and Alan Wake 2.

My point is that you should test it for yourself. Play a few games here and there, watch a movie or two, and then decide if it really annoys you.

(As I'm not to confident in my English skills I did use grammarly to correct my errors.)
