im new player

I'm new to this, it's my first time with a modpack like this. I recently played ATM10 but didn't finish it because I got bored getting overpowered items too quickly. Any recommendations on how to play this? I'm trying not to watch videos so I don't have any expectations and can experience it all for myself. Cheers.
