Is Pokémon Go too much of a good thing?
When I saw the first trailer for PoGo, I was hyped af. It looked like such a good idea at the time. The trailer completely blew me away. The Charizard appearing on the rock. Then when it came out – what a disappointment. The AR mode that allowed you to see the Pokémon in the real world (the actual point of PoGo) didn't even work on most devices at the time. Maybe if you had a flagship model. And then there were the completely exaggerated spawn rates. What do I want with 50 Pikachus? Sure, you get candies for every Pokemon you catch, but in my opinion, the mechanics are rubbish. What do I want with 50 Pikachus? I think the game would be much better if it ran in the background somehow and you just got a notification that there were Pokemon nearby. Then you could use AR mode to search for the Pokemon and battle it. A normal level system would also be very desirable.
